SLI graphics card setup

i want to have a PC with dual graphics cards, bridged with an SLI connection.

asuming i have the correct motherboard and a quad core intel processor and 8gb of ram, what would be the best pair of graphics cards to have?

how much would it cost me?

Re: SLI graphics card setup

Why would you need 8gb of RAM - you wouldn't ever be able to actually use that much? It'll cost you a load and right now, it's not really needed. For now, I'd go for 4gb since it'll be just as fast and will cost a lot, lot, less.

You only really need that much if you were running a small-ish domain server or something, and given you're after high-performance graphics cards, you're clearly not doing that.

Re: SLI graphics card setup

Photoshop eats up a ton of ram, but yeah 8gb is overkill, but maybe that's what the OP wants.

As far as graphics cards go, if you are going to go with SLI the 8800GTX is pretty much the only sensible choice, they currently cost about 500 each, sometimes you can find a deal for less. There is no point in using SLI with cards lesser than the GTX because your better off using a single GTX if cost is an issue. You should get the 30" dell monitor to go with this set up.
