Hands On with The Simpsons Game Demo

PS3 owners got The Simpsons Game demo love last week, but today Xbox 360 owners can get their chance to experience some of the game in action. The Simpsons Game demo is now available for download through Xbox Live, and it gives you a little taste of what to expect from a next-gen game based on America’s favorite yellow-skinned family. So what can you expect? Hilarity and uneven gameplay it would seem.

The demo has you playing essentially one big boss battle from the game, where you battle a Lard Lad statue come to life who brings little Krusty dolls to life along with him. Lard Lad is destroying part of downtown Springfield and its up to Bart and Homer to stop him. You can switch between the two Simpsons on the fly, and each of them has their ow unique abilities. Bart can fire a slingshot and use his Bartman cape to glide, while Homer unleashes devastating belches and can transform into a massive Homerball to roll over foes.

The Simpsons Game Demo Now On Xbox 360

EA has today released a playable The Simpsons Game demo on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The 442MB demo will see gamers taking control of Homer and Bart who must prevent a rampaging Lard Lad statue from destroying Springfield.

The father and son duo will have to fend off waves of miniature Krusty dolls while avoiding Lard Lad's laser and stop attacks. Only by pulling out his wiring will Lard Lad be stopped.

The full version of The Simpsons Game features a huge variety of video game based parodies such as Medal of Honor and Grand Theft Auto.

The Simpsons: Midnight Towboy

(S19E03) Shut the hell up, you damn ass whore! -- Bart

Three episodes of The Simpsons down. Time for an extensive, in-depth analysis of the nineteenth season so far.

Not bad.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting an earth-shattering change in the show after The Simpsons Movie premiered this summer. What has come down the pike since late September has been entertaining and provided a good solid laugh or two. However, I do have one concern and an observation about our favorite yellow-headed patriarch.

Comic Creations: Homer Goes To The Opera

An interesting landmark has appeared in the home town of The Simpsons.

The Springfield Opera House looks rather similar to the Australian Opera House but has avoided some of the pitfalls of Joern Utzon's original design. The entrance has been opened up by the removal of the grand but little-used stairway and the western colonnade has been improved by the addition of Moe's bar.

The Springfield Opera House was unveiled in the second episode of the 19th Simpsons season, which went to air in the US last week. Homer sings the lead in La Boheme after a back injury leaves him with a magnificent singing voice.

This is not the first time the long-running animation has made reference to Australia. The first was in Bart v Australia, the 16th episode of the sixth season where the show poked fun at Australian accents, politics, Foster's, Crocodile Dundee, the Azaria Chamberlain incident and the tendency to add "-zza" to names.

The episode will air in Australia next year.
